The Aldridge Affair is an inspirational tale about a woman who finds her true calling in life. It follows the journey she takes to find her purpose and finally realize that she can be anything she wants to be.
I wrote this book in two weeks because I had no idea where my story was going, so it made sense for me not to waste any time getting there!
The most challenging part of writing was trying not just one but several characters’ voices all at once while they were all trying so hard not only their own but also each other’s lives—they all had strong opinions on things like politics or religion (which makes sense since they’re all Christians).
I also had trouble making sure everyone understood what happened between them because sometimes people don’t take everything literally; instead they see things differently than how we did when we lived through them ourselves–so some passages may seem confusing until you read them again after reading another chapter later down the road 🙂
Have you always wanted to be a writer?
Yes, I have always wanted to be a writer. Writing is my passion, and it has been since I was young.
I started writing short stories when I was in elementary school and continued through high school, where I wrote poetry as well. After graduating from college with an English degree and working for several years as an editor for scientific journals (which were not the most challenging jobs), I decided that maybe there was something more satisfying about creating stories instead of editing them—and so began my journey into becoming an author!
What inspired you to write this book?
Writing is something I love to do. It’s a way for me to express myself, share my ideas and experiences, and communicate with others. When I was younger, I used writing as an outlet for everything from art projects through school papers and even novels. As an adult now, it’s still one of my favorite ways to release creative energy!
The idea behind this book came from several different sources: my own life experiences (including some painful ones), as well as stories told by others that have shaped who I am today—all of which helped shape the story line behind “Behind the Scenes.”

I work full-time as an editor and writer, so my day is busy. I don’t have much time during the week when I can focus on writing, but on weekends and evenings I usually get some time to work on projects like these posts (which takes about one hour). Sometimes this means that everything gets done in two days — which is pretty impressive if you ask me!
When we started out at The New Yorker together there were times when we would work all night long until 3 in the morning because we had such amazing ideas for articles or stories that needed finishing up before going out into the world—and then still go out at 7 am when everyone else was still sleeping off last night’s shenanigans.
What do you do to relax after writing?
After finishing a project, you can relax by reading a book or watching a movie. I love listening to music while I write. If I’m feeling particularly stressed, I’ll also play with my dogs or go for a walk in nature—and yes, sometimes even sleep!
But what about when it comes to relaxing? Well, there are many different ways of doing so: yoga has been known to help me unwind after working on something that required concentration; eating something healthy (like veggies!) will make you feel better than eating junk food.
Taking baths is another great way to kick back and unwind after being stuck in front of the computer all day long; and lastly—but certainly not leastly—sleeping is always great for giving yourself time away from your work space so that when morning comes around again tomorrow morning (or whenever), things can start fresh again without having any negative effects from staying up too late into the night trying hard…
